Yet Another MLB Team Declares Bankruptcy And I Doubt the Yankees Or Their Fans Care.

The Texas Rangers have declared bankruptcy today thanks in large part them signing Alex Rodriguez to a $252 contract some years ago. That’s what you get in baseball when you try to sign a player that only a few teams can afford to keep. What a fair “game” Major League Baseball is.

That is all.

    @DaSkarekrow the …
    @DaSkarekrow the Rangers don’t suck.. They’ve had mediocre teams for the majority of their past.. but this year, they are playing legit baseball.. and they won’t move anywhere.

    @jediscum11 the …
    @jediscum11 the rangers aren’t folding.. the ownership is.. which is why the team is for sell.. they WILL stay in Texas.

  • kedrick06:

    Tom HIcks …
    Tom HIcks up.. look into it.. They filed for bankruptcy so they could speed up the selling of the team

    @TheArchfiend As a …
    @TheArchfiend As a Reds Fan..I Have to say the Rangers are playing the best Baseball as of now…They got alot of good hitting Hamilton,Vlad,Kinsler,Cruz,and Young in my opinion has the best hitting lineup this year with their Good Numbers they are putting up…

    Uhh..at 7:55 you …
    Uhh..at 7:55 you say “[...]New York fans disgust [you].” Well, I hope you also don’t mean Mets fans, even though our payroll is 5th. I can’t help but to agree with your points, but I hope that was just a slip-of-the-tongue moment instead of a generalization of New York sports fans.

    @TheArchfiend good …
    @TheArchfiend good point. I really have no valid comeback to that one. I really hope that you’re not seeking some sort of parity in baseball though. Because there’s no parity in any walk of life; always gonna be someone bigger and better than someone else. Like, look at the NFL; same teams are good every year and the same teams are bad every year, and that’s WITH a salary cap. I respect what you have to say, and I hope you feel the same way with what I had to say, but it is what it is.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @patriothater94 And …
    @patriothater94 And after this year they are going to lose atleast 4 starters due to the fact that they just don’t have the money to resign them to the contracts that they deserve.

    That’s fair.

  • patriothater94:

    Plus, let’s not …
    Plus, let’s not forget that the Rays are one of the best teams in baseball, and they don’t have a very high payroll either. And they’re not spending themselves into debt.

  • patriothater94:

    Well, the Yankees …
    Well, the Yankees have to pay a luxury tax when they pay over a certain amount, and every team in the MLB gets a cut of it. The difference between the teams with the higher payrolls and the teams with the lower payrolls is really what the ownership decides to do with that money, like teams like NY put the money back into the team, while other owners will just pocket the extra earnings. Can’t really blame NY for that…

  • TerribleMerchandise:

    Is this the reason …
    Is this the reason why baseball is no longer an Olympic sport? A lack of competition for the best players to get to the best teams with the best coaches. I think that’s about right.

    Sports=Fun and excitment not a form of cash.

    I am Yankees fan and I feel bad about what happned to the Texas Rangers. I hope they can find away out of it.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @baseball1990 Tell …
    @baseball1990 Tell that to the Royals. The only and IU mean ONLY way a team like that can be competitive is by drafting well. A team like that can NEVER again be able to sign big name free agents. The teams at top have an unfair advantage of being able to draft AND sign free agents AND extend the contracts of players that come out of their system and are really good. Any time the Royals or Pirates, etc get a player that is good they have to let them go.

    You see that as competitive? FAIL!

  • baseball1990:

    The Rangers filed …
    The Rangers filed for bankruptcy to speed up the selling process of the team. Major League Baseball still has an excellent sense of competition, and not every team with a lot of money wins the world series or even gets into the playoffs.

    Jesus Christ. I …
    Jesus Christ. I didn’t know that this happened. I feel bad for them. It is our (Yankees and their fans) fault. I will admit that. we have to be selfish and want the BEST players. This, and the fact that now we are trying to steal Cliff Lee now (yeah they are going for him), have really me off.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @ …
    @LargeAndInChargeINC Wait, did you seriously just compare a 3 million dollar player with, A. Rod?

    Bye. Conversation over. You are beyond an now.

  • LargeAndInChargeINC:

    @TheArchfiend and …
    @TheArchfiend and also…how blind are you to the facts that about 13+ are always in the title hunt.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @ …
    @LargeAndInChargeINC You agree that game is substantially unfair to the small market teams and you still remain a fan? What the drugs are you on?

  • LargeAndInChargeINC:

    @TheArchfiend: you …
    @TheArchfiend: you already explained why…and im saying they signed a guy who can hit 30 plus homeruns and 100+ rbi’s if healthy for only 3mil…when they signed a guy who could do the same for 200+ mil…

  • LargeAndInChargeINC:

    @TheArchfiend yes I …
    @TheArchfiend yes I agree with you there like i have said from the start….i have a different way of looking at it…where you see there is no chance for a team to win…i see a possibilty they can contend…plus alot of the sox players were traded for like the big time people….like beckett was traded for, schilling, lowell, and others, drafted within, and some signed…and teams that are smaller that draft well have the possibility of trading those draft picks for big time players.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @ …
    @LargeAndInChargeINC Why did the Rangers go bankrupt?

  • TheArchfiend:

    @ …
    @LargeAndInChargeINC Answer me this, why the did the Rangers go bankrupt?

    I’m just curious to see how blind you are to the facts and just how much of an that you really are.

  • TheArchfiend:

    @ …
    @LargeAndInChargeINC BOTTOM LINE: The teams on top have a ridiculous advantage of being able to rely on drafting AND BIG free agent signings. The teams on the bottom ONLY can rely on drafting well. If the smaller teams sign big names, they go bankrupt. PERIOD.
